Did Kim Kardashian help during the Covid-19 pandemic?

It's complicated

RATING: +0

We’ve had mixed submissions from readers for Kim Kardashian, and so have removed her from our typical +/- scale.

Multiple people have submitted that, through her company Skims, she will be donating 20% of all profits to Baby2Baby’s COVID-19 (Standard), as well as a $1 million to families affected by COVID-19.

However, others have stated, as the above article does, that the donation could be seen as a method for incentivising the purchase of her products, and therefore a method of profiting from the coronavirus pandemic. People have also criticised the value of her donation.

We believe that making judgements about the nature of people’s actions is always difficult, and so for individuals, we attempt to be extra careful about reducing their actions to the rather simplistic metric we use on most listings on the site. In these cases, we try to present as much information as we can, as well as the contrasting perspectives, and rate the entry as “it’s complicated”.

We hope that these listings will also help encourage readers to always take a pluralistic perspective on what they read online.
